Laura Schroeder, MD, MEd is a Pediatric Intensivist at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center, the Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program, and a member of the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Scholars Academy steering committee. She graduated from Princeton University in 2003, and from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2011. She completed her pediatric residency at New York University Langone Medical Center/Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and Bellevue Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics. She then completed her Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.. As a fellow, she was selected for the Master Teacher Leadership Development Program. Following her training, she returned to NYU Langone/Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital as faculty in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She was subsequently appointed as the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program, as well as Associate Program Director for the newly accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She was thrilled to join Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in 2023. She also completed a Masters in Medical Education in 2024 from the George Washington University School of Education. As Program Director, she oversees the training and education of all pediatric residents, as well as the recruitment of new residents each year.  This includes overseeing and updating the clinical and didactic curriculum for the residency, and fostering successful resident scholarship.
